“After our daughter, Sharon, died of bowel cancer some eight years ago, it was found that she had Familial Adenomatous Polyposis (FAP). Consequently all family members were tested to see if they also possessed the defective gene. Sharon’s son, our grandson, Luke (then 13), was tested positive and we were referred to St Mark’s, where we have always been treated with the utmost respect and professionalism. We have been very impressed with the kindness, care and sympathy shown by all the staff, Doctors, Nurses, and Administrators alike. Luke is now an adult and he continues to be monitored and receives very welcome reassurance as to his future.
We are very grateful that our two grand-daughters were also added to the Polyposis Registry database and staff were delighted to hear that the elder girl hasn’t inherited the condition. Our younger grand-daughter has yet to be tested – this will occur when she is a little older – but I know that if she should require future monitoring she will receive the excellent “St Marks Service” and we know that we would be in very good hands. St Mark’s certainly deserves it’s reputation as a world class centre of excellence.”
